WordPress Integration

Step 1: Set Up Your Nexvio.ai Chatbot

To integrate your Nexvio.ai chatbot into your WordPress website, begin by logging into your Nexvio.ai account. If you haven’t already created an account, you can sign up for a free account. After signing in, you can configure your bot within the Nexvio.ai platform by uploading relevant data sources, such as FAQs, website content, or product information, which the bot can use to build its knowledge base.

Step 2: Generate and Copy Your Nexvio.ai Chatbot Embed Code

  1. Every chatbot you create on Nexvio.ai has a unique embed code you can use to embed it on your website. Once you’ve set up your chatbot on Nexvio.ai, navigate to your Dashboard page, and select the specific bot you wish to integrate with your WordPress website.

  2. Clicking on the bot should take you to the bot’s playground page. From there, proceed to the Connect tab.

  3. Up next, a new page should come up, click on Copy Script to copy the code snippet.

Step 3: Add the Code to Your WordPress Site

There are two main methods to add the Nexvio.ai chatbot to your WordPress site:

  1. Log in to your WordPress admin dashboard.

  2. Navigate to Plugins > Add New.

  3. Search for “Header and Footer Scripts” or “Insert Headers and Footers” plugin.

  4. Install and activate one of these plugins.

  5. Go to Settings > Header and Footer Scripts (or the equivalent for the plugin you installed).

  6. Paste the Nexvio.ai embed code into the Footer section.

  7. Click Save Changes.

Method 2: Editing Your Theme Files

Note: This method requires some technical knowledge and should be used with caution. Always back up your theme files before making changes.

  1. Log in to your WordPress admin dashboard.

  2. Navigate to Appearance > Theme Editor.

  3. Look for the footer.php file in your theme files list and click on it.

  4. Find the closing </body> tag in the file.

  5. Just before the </body> tag, paste the Nexvio.ai embed code.

  6. Click Update File to save your changes.

Step 4: Test Your WordPress Integration

  1. Visit your WordPress website.

  2. You should see the Nexvio.ai chat bubble in the bottom corner of your website.

  3. Click on the chat bubble to test the functionality of your chatbot.

  4. Make any necessary adjustments to your chatbot configuration in the Nexvio.ai dashboard.

Step 5: Customize Your Chatbot (Optional)

  1. Return to your Nexvio.ai dashboard.

  2. Navigate to your bot’s settings by clicking on the bot and then the Settings tab.

  3. Click on Chat Interface in the left sidebar.

  4. Here you can customize the appearance of your chatbot to match your WordPress site’s branding:

    • Change the color scheme
    • Adjust the chat bubble icon
    • Customize welcome messages
    • Set up bot behavior

  5. Save your changes and check your WordPress site again to see the updated appearance.

Compatibility Considerations

  • Theme Compatibility: Most WordPress themes will work seamlessly with the Nexvio.ai embed code, but some highly customized themes might require additional adjustments.
  • Caching Plugins: If you use caching plugins, you might need to clear the cache after adding the chatbot code to see the changes.
  • Page Builders: If you use page builders like Elementor, Divi, or Beaver Builder, you might need to use their specific methods for adding custom code.

Note: If you update your WordPress theme, you might need to re-add the Nexvio.ai embed code, especially if you used Method 2 to add it. Using Method 1 (plugin) is more resilient to theme updates.
